Entry
Islands
As the Welcome Walkway
moves into the spawning spot for most of our members, there will be
three places they exit into the world. These are our Entry
Islands. They will be Fisher,
Paiz, and Zona. Members will arrive from the Walkway to a spot
near the IG huts on all three of these islands. Members will
still be spawning at CC Metro as well. The support at CC Metro
will remain the same as before.
Points to Remember
- When on duty, give new members your best attention
- Be friendly and available to answer questions
- Keep your eye on the IG hut to watch for new members who go
there looking for you
- When off duty in these areas, always be polite to new
members and help them find a guide if you are not available
- Wear shirt on duty and not when off duty
- Try to refrain from going AFK in these areas if you have a
star in your nametag. Please do not go AFK in these areas with
your shirt on.
- Use voice only minimally in these areas
- When on duty, keep yourself available to new members by not
joining chat groups filled up with premiums or guides. If your
chat group fills up, please break away to make yourself approachable by
new members
- Use plenty of emotes
- All new member islands have
- information at the IG huts,
- spas and try-it machines,
- dance areas
- card areas
- travel areas,
- real estate information.
- information in Spanish
- Don't be offended if new members do not respond to your
hello. Just move on to the next new member
- If you encounter someone who speaks another language, see
if you can find a guide who can communicate with them.
- Handling
problems
- If someone is using
harassing language, teach the offended member about ignore
- In extreme cases report the
incident or in very extreme cases, call for a helper (Please see our
program notes on reporting issues)

What to do at Fisher and Paiz and
Zona
- All Islands
- The first priority is always
to give a personal welcome to new members. Say 'hello,'
make them feel welcomed, make them your buddy.
- Explain any special events
or themed events we may have going on at the time (signs at IG hut)
- Show them where they can see
a list of our welcoming events. Invite them to come along (Welcome
kiosk near IG hut)
- Explain to them about the
advantages of becoming premium.
- Some of the new members who
arrive here may want to see the world. Show them the self-guided
tours at the travel centers, or take them on a personal tour.
- Answer any questions they
may
have
- Explain to them about
finding
people and events.
- Offer them a welcome
brochure
if they don't have one already.
- The Island Guide huts have
information on becoming premium, payment methods, emotes lists, Spanish
information, and a list of our welcome events in chronological order.
- Fisher Specialties: Vehicles
and Questing.
- Show members the Try-It
Machines.
- Help them sign up for
events.
- Show them the quest center
and start them on a questing tutorial if they wish to learn more.
- Explain about our
vehicle clubs (Bouncing Buggies, Beach Boarders, Bike Starters,
Hoverboat Risers) and Right Foot Questing
- Handling Problems
- During vehicle events, if
someone is hoarding vehicles, just retrieve them. This
demonstrates that stealing isn't really possible in There.
- During vehicle events, if
someone is behing bashed, help them learn about forcefield
- If someone is blocking one
of the ramps to the point of it not being usable, call a helper or a
greeter to fix the situation
- Paiz Specialities: Paintball, Tours, Dogs
- Help new members sign up for
events
- Show them the paintball try
it machines
- Show them the self-guided
tours in the Tour center
- Explain about our Paintball
club and Doggiemania club
- Note: The vehicle area may
be removed or changed at a future date. It is not part of the
general plan of Paiz and the welcome islands
- Handling
Problems
- If someone is being bashed
or paintballed, teach them about forcefield
- Zona Specialties: Party,
Fashion, Cards
- Help them sign up for events
- Explain about our Party
Lights, Hola Amigos, Spades and Games, and Fun by Design clubs
- Handling
problems
- If someone is using
harassing language, teach the offended member about ignore
- In extreme cases report
the incident or in very extreme cases, call for a helper (Please see
our program notes on reporting issues)
- If someone is blocking a
card table during an event, the host may remove them. If the card
hosts feel it would be useful to set the tables to owner only options,
we can do that. We hesitate to make that change until we
understand it will be welcomed.

Travel Points
Self-Guided Tours
It is anticipated that many of the people who end up at an entry area
will be interested in seeing more of the world. There are
currently at least two self-guided
tour at each of the New Member
Islands. Currently tours from Paiz go to Caldera Landmarks and
the Malihini
Islands. Tours from Fisher go to Ootay and Aurora. Tours
from Zona go
to Monkey Crater and Tyr. There are also tours of outliers such
as the
Drain and one for various types of There Funzones. These two
tours
leave from Fisher or Paiz. I may do a tour of good hoverboard
spots
for Zona in the future. The tours are marked by planters that the
members will follow along the way (in progress). In the future I
plan
to cover the tour spots with stones or other objects marked with the
tour name.
The tours of Caldera, Ootay, Tyr, Monkey Crater, are each designed to
minimize
asset downloads as they tour. The Aurora and Malihini tours will
be a bit more graphics intensive. The Outliers and FunZones tours
will be the most graphics intensive and should probably be one of the
later ones they do.
Guided Tours
These leave from the Paiz Travel Center. Help new members sign up
for those if they wish. There may also be hoverboat tours from
the top of the BABs Tower on Paiz.
General Points about getting
around
- Explain to them how to find their 'Favorite' spots and that
they will get new ones as they skill up.
- Explain to them how to 'undo last teleport'
- Explain that some zones will turn off their forcefields and
be sure they know how to turn them back on
- Take them on a mini tour if they wish. You can use
our landmark page if needed, or go with them through the self-guided
tours.
- Show them how the map works.
